After morning roll call the prisoners would be given their morning 'meal' – imitation coffee or herbal 'tea'. For lunch prisoners would be given a liter of watery soup. If they were lucky, they might find a piece of turnip or potato peel.

On arrival at concentration camps prisoners had their clothing taken away, often to be replaced by a striped uniform with a yellow star if the victim was a jew. Men would wear a vest, trousers, hat and coat.

Block 11 was the name of a brick building in The Auschwitz concentration camp. The Block was in the so-called Stammlager (Auschwitz I main camp) and was intended solely to punish prisoners through torture.
